ColonDev (Pvt) Ltd ("ColonDev", "we", "us") built the Chroma8 app as a pixel art drawing and animation tool for iPhone and iPad. Chroma8 is free to download and ad supported, with an optional paid subscription called Chroma8 Pro. This SERVICE is provided by ColonDev and is intended for use as is.
This page is used to inform visitors regarding our policies with the collection, use, and disclosure of personal information if anyone decides to use our Service.
If you choose to use our Service, then you agree to the collection and use of information in relation to this policy. The personal information that we collect is used for providing and improving the Service. We will not use or share your information with anyone except as described in this Privacy Policy.
The terms used in this Privacy Policy have the same meanings as in our Terms and Conditions, which are accessible at Chroma8 unless otherwise defined in this Privacy Policy.
Your Artwork Stays on Your Device
Chroma8 is designed to work without an account. The Arts and Projects you create, the layers and animation frames inside them, their thumbnails, and your canvas settings are saved in the app's own storage area on your device. You can draw, animate, and export without signing in and without sending your artwork to us.
If you subscribe to Chroma8 Pro and sign in, you can turn on cloud sync so that your Arts and Projects are backed up to your account and available on your other devices. Cloud sync uses Google Firebase, and the synced artwork is stored in an area of the database that is scoped to your account. Cloud sync requires both an active subscription and a signed-in account; if you do not have both, nothing is uploaded.
Information Collection and Use
For a better experience, while using our Service, we may require you to provide us with certain personally identifiable information. The information that we request will be retained by us and used as described in this privacy policy.
Chroma8 collects and stores the following categories of information:
We use this information only to operate the Service for you: to keep your artwork available, to sync it when you ask us to, to apply your subscription benefits, to show ads on the free tier, and to support and improve the app.
We do not sell your personal information or your artwork to anyone.
Device Permissions
Chroma8 asks for permission to add images to your photo library, so that you can save a finished export to Photos. The app does not browse or read your photo library with that permission. When you add an image layer, the image is chosen through Apple's system photo picker, which hands the app only the single image you select. You can decline photo library access and still draw, animate, and share your exports through the share sheet.
Advertising
The free tier of Chroma8 shows ads supplied by Google AdMob: a banner in the app, and an optional rewarded video that you can choose to watch to earn extra exports for the day. Watching a rewarded ad is always voluntary. AdMob may collect and use device and ad interaction data to serve and measure those ads, as described in its own policy linked below.
Chroma8 does not ask for permission to track you across other companies' apps and websites, and it does not request your device's advertising identifier for that purpose. Ads are served without cross-app tracking. The app includes Apple's SKAdNetwork identifiers, which let advertisers measure ad campaigns in a way that Apple designed to be privacy preserving and that does not identify you.
Subscribing to Chroma8 Pro removes ads from the app.
The app does use third-party services that may collect information used to identify you.

Log Data
We want to inform you that whenever you use our Service, in a case of an error in the app, we collect data and information (through third-party products) on your phone called Log Data. This Log Data may include information such as your device Internet Protocol ("IP") address, device name, operating system version, the configuration of the app when utilizing our Service, the time and date of your use of the Service, and other statistics.
Cookies
Cookies are files with a small amount of data that are commonly used as anonymous unique identifiers. These are sent to your browser from the websites that you visit and are stored on your device's internal memory.
This Service does not use these cookies explicitly. However, the app may use third-party code and libraries that use cookies or similar identifiers to collect information and improve their services. You have the option to either accept or refuse these cookies and know when a cookie is being sent to your device. If you choose to refuse our cookies, you may not be able to use some portions of this Service.
Service Providers
We may employ third-party companies and individuals due to the following reasons:
We want to inform users of this Service that these third parties have access to your personal information. The reason is to perform the tasks assigned to them on our behalf. However, they are obligated not to disclose or use the information for any other purpose.
Where Your Data Is Stored
Artwork you keep on the device is stored only on that device and is included in your device backups if you have those turned on. Account information, and artwork that you choose to sync, are stored in Google Firebase under an area scoped to your account, and Google may process and store that data on servers outside your country. Exports that you create, such as PNG, GIF, MP4, SVG, and sprite sheet files, are generated on your device and are shared only when you choose to save or share them.
Data Retention and Deletion
Artwork stored on your device stays there until you delete it in the app or delete the app. Deleting the app removes the artwork that was only on that device, so export or sync anything you want to keep first.
If you signed in, we keep your account information and any synced artwork for as long as your account is active. You can sign out at any time from Settings inside the app, which leaves your artwork on the device. If you want your account and all data associated with it deleted, please contact us through the contact form on the ColonDev website and ask for account deletion. We will delete your account and its data within 30 days of confirming your request, except where we are required to keep certain records to comply with the law.
Security
We value your trust in providing us your personal information, thus we are striving to use commercially acceptable means of protecting it. Access to synced data requires you to be signed in, and our database rules restrict each account to its own records. But remember that no method of transmission over the internet, or method of electronic storage is 100% secure and reliable, and we cannot guarantee its absolute security. You are responsible for keeping your sign-in credentials and your device secure.
Links to Other Sites
This Service may contain links to other sites. If you click on a third-party link, you will be directed to that site. Note that these external sites are not operated by us. Therefore, we strongly advise you to review the Privacy Policy of these websites. We have no control over and assume no responsibility for the content, privacy policies, or practices of any third-party sites or services.
Children's Privacy
These Services do not address anyone under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personally identifiable information from children under 13 years of age. In the case we discover that a child under 13 has provided us with personal information, we immediately delete this from our servers. If you are a parent or guardian and you are aware that your child has provided us with personal information, please contact us so that we will be able to do necessary actions.
Your Rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to ask for a copy of the personal information we hold about you, to have it corrected, or to have it deleted. Because most of what Chroma8 holds is your own artwork on your own device, the fastest route for most requests is the app itself. For anything tied to a signed-in account, contact us through the contact form on the ColonDev website and we will respond within a reasonable period.
Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update our Privacy Policy from time to time. Thus, you are advised to review this page periodically for any changes. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy on this page.
This policy is effective as of 2026-08-31
